Preparation
  • Print puppets file 1 time per student on non-glossy cardstock paper.

  • Every student will also need paper fasteners - we recommend the mini ones.

Note: This activity is not recommended for very young students, since it requires detailed cutting and fine motor skills, and the puppets can rip. We recommend that teachers assist with connecting the different pieces.

We have also included complete characters that may be used instead if you prefer.

Preparation
  • Print the cue cards on cardstock (recommended for durability).

  • Cut apart and shuffle.

  • Students should have their assembled puppets for the activity.

How to

Choose if you would like to give the students the English cards or use the cards with the Pesukim.

If you choose the cards with the pesukim, you might like to print out the sheet and review their meaning with the entire class before you begin.

  1. Choose 2–4 students to come up with the puppets.

  2. Have them draw one cue card.

  3. Give them 1–2 minutes to quietly plan how they will act it out.

  4. They perform the scene using only the puppets.

  5. The class guesses: What moment from the Megillah it is.

  6. After the guess, ask: What happened right before this? What happened next?

Challenge option: Perform the entire scene silently.

If using the Pesukim cards, you can also ask the students to point out what possuk is being acted out.
